Her Turn
By: PurpleDameKat
Sequel to: Cherry Pie (WARNING: Slight kissy-kissy goo-goo ahead!)

Timmy Turner held Trixie Tang's hand, which felt as silky has he had imagined. When he was ten, he had always fantasized about actually holding hands with his longtime crush. However, as the girl clad in a long, purple gown swept beside him, wearing a smile that was about as glittery as the tiara on her head, Timmy didn't feel as surprised or excited as he would have been when he was just a pre-teen.

Perhaps the night was still young, he thought. The young teenager had a blue blazer with a pink corsage that matched the shirt underneath, and a lime green bow. Obviously, those two were actually his fairy godparents Cosmo and Wanda, secretly concealed within his two accessories. They watched his every move.

"I sure hope Timmy is enjoying himself," whispered Wanda. She was posing as a carnation corsage.

"Of course he is!" said Cosmo, nearly exploding in excitement. He was the bow tie.

Their godchild was wearing a pair of black pants that seemed to complement the mysterious yet inviting aura that emanated from his casual grin. On his feet were a pair of shiny navy shoes that, if you stared at it, you could probably use them as mirrors. When Timmy smiled, moving slowly to the tune of a romantic ballad, he smiled, letting his braces reflect the light of the auditorium. His usual pink hat was still perched onto his shock of brown hair.

"Timmy..." Trixie laid her head onto his shoulder.

"Yeah, Trixie?" he asked.

"I'm having a great time," she said. "Hold me closer."

Both of them drew nearer to each other, Timmy taking in the sweet candy scent of Trixie's perfume, something that was probably imported from a faraway European country. His right hand found her long black hair, pulled back into a perfect ponytail. She giggled as he caressed it lovingly, taking care not to accidentally pull any of her sensitive hair strands.

But just as the music began to slow down even more (the DJ had opted for an even slower song), she perked up from where she was resting her head onto his shoulder. Her ears, both of which had a dangling ruby heart each, perked up at the sound of someone calling her name.

"Trixie!"

"Chad?"

She broke off from Timmy, staring at the boy who had originally asked her out. He was already there, fashionably late.

"I guess Trixie was so desperate for a dance, so she got the only guy around! Turner is such a pushover!" guffawed Tad, who was Chad's close companion.

"Uh...yeah," agreed Trixie, glancing back at Timmy. He adjusted his little pink cap and watched her walk over to the popular clique. "I'm coming!"

"I hope I was able to save you from that unpopular boy," said Chad, smoothing back his gelled hair and gazing at her from a pair of tinted sunglasses. "Oh, my sincerest apologies for being late. My dog gnawed my shoes and it took me nearly forever to find a pair that was as perfect!"

The four of them laughed. Timmy raised a hand to wave at Trixie, who merely gave him a small smile before getting whisked away by Chad. Veronica, Tad and Chad weren't even looking at him. Soon, the two pairs were on the dance floor, swaying to a mellow beat. Timmy shrugged and decided to find a place to sit beside the food table.

Was Trixie simply using him so she wouldn't be caught dead hanging around alone? As if his old feelings for her weren't as intense as they used to be, she actually dissed him in the middle of a good number. Maybe they weren't meant to be...he should have read the signs...

Wanda instantly read his mind. "Are you all right, sweetie?"

"I say we go on with my plan of letting Wanda go with you to the dance!" said her husband. "But...I wouldn't have a date! Well, Timmy always comes first!"

She glared at Cosmo. "Not that I don't want to be your pretend date...but I know you'd prefer a real girl to hang out with, right?"

"Uh-huh," replied Timmy tonelessly. "I thought Trixie really did have a thing for me. I thought she and I were soulmates or something. I guess I'm just a pawn to make her look good, as usual."

The pink-haired fairy shook her head. The corsage disappeared from his blazer and reappeared beside him. "I guess that was only childhood infatuation," sighed Wanda. "Just like when I fell in love with Wandissimo."

"Don't remind me," said Cosmo angrily. He wasn't very fond of Wanda's ex-boyfriend, who was most probably still in love with her.

For a moment, Timmy sat there, with his godparents hovering beside him. Thankfully, when someone stared at him, they both turned back into a corsage and a bow tie. That someone had large dark eyes behind a pair of black-framed glasses. Her hair was up in two pigtails, and she also had some retainers.

Suddenly, Timmy felt something inside him flutter. It was as if he had eaten butterflies at the buffet table. He glanced back at the girl who had gazed at him. She had slipped away from the crowd to sit somewhere very far. His instincts told him to follow, follow the girl, she was perhaps a nicer one than Trixie...

But not before he could recall a few memories.

"Timmy! TIMMY! Wanna come out and play?"

"FIRE!"

*insert exploding water balloon here*

"WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!"

* * *

"Then...there's hope?"

"Uh...yeah."

"THERE'S HOPE!!!" *bouncebouncebounce*

* * *

"Timmy, someone's here to see you!"

"TIMMY! COME HERE! This doll is you, and this doll is me! I love you Timmy! I love you too, Tootie!" *insert dolls kissing*

He surveyed the girl who had taken a seat away from everyone else. Slowly standing up, he took in her black skirt, blue blouse and her pigtails. On her feet were a pair of black sandals. She looked slightly younger than he was. Her fingers were playing with a small, golden heart-shaped picture frame that had the all-too familiar image of a brown-haired boy desperately showing a black-haired, annoying little girl a restraining order.

Tootie.

She was the girl who had a major crush on him. At first, he found her particularly infuriating and a downright pain in the butt. But that night, he began to see her in a new light. Tootie had probably matured in the stretch of time they barely saw each other. She was no longer the persistent, nagging menace who plagued Timmy's childhood days, but a preteen loner who would rather sit alone.

He had to do something.

Deliberately averting his eyes from Trixie, who was dancing with Chad, Timmy stood up and walked over to her. Even when he was still a bit far away, Tootie recognized him instantly, from the pink hat to the buck teeth.

"Timmy?" She shoved the picture frame into her pocket.

"Hey, Tootie."

Parking himself beside her, he looked down at his shiny shoes before saying anything. "So...whatcha doing?"

"Nothing," she said shyly. "I thought I'd stay here, since nobody wanted to dance with me. I've asked even the guys who didn't have dates, but all of them refused."

"Why?" Timmy felt that he already knew the answer.

Tootie glared at him for a while. She looked away, and he swore that he saw tears in her eyes. "You KNOW why! I was a horrible little pest whom everyone hated! You threw water balloons at me, made me a complete fool because I loved you back then..."

"You still love me?" He braced himself. Something told him that he shouldn't have asked that question. But the butterflies in his stomach were egging him on. "I mean...what about now?"

She twisted a corner of her simple blouse. "Well, nothing's changed! Or at least, that's what they've all been saying. Go on, ask your little friends! I still love you, but I'd rather not make like an immature brat who keeps following you around! I mean, this is middle school, for crying out loud! What kind of girl would tail the boy she loves like a homeless puppy?"

"But Tootie..." Timmy's voice trailed off. He didn't know what else to say. Sure, she used to be one of his worst nightmares, but that night, she seemed more like a regular yet somewhat unique young lady. The butterflies continued to push him, telling him to ask her to dance...or ask her to go steady...no wiat, that was too fast...

"But WHAT?" Her voice became a horrible whisper. The music went on, with nobody noticing their conversation.

Timmy closed his eyes for a moment. He was taking the plunge. The butterflies seemed to cheer for him. "Tootie...uh...I have no date either..."

"I saw you dancing out there with Trixie Tang moments ago!" she said indignantly. "So what happened? Did you break up already?"

"She was only using me!" he answered, trying not to yell. "Trixie only wanted to dance with me because Chad didn't turn up! Then he turned up, so she dumped me and went for him instead! Happy? HAPPY?"

Tootie stared at him. "No," she mumbled.

"No?"

"No. I thought you would be happy to be with the girl you loved. I already told you, I still have a crush on you!"

"You do?"

"I already told you!"

Timmy felt the truth sink in slowly. He felt it run through his veins, igniting him with another chance to have a great dance. The butterflies in his stomach fluttered faster. He remembered the feeling he had always felt whenever Trixie Tang passed by him in the corridors of Dimmsdale Elementary.

Now, they had returned. Right when he had first seen Tootie again. Taking a deep breath, he said with all his might, "Would you...like to dance with me?"

Tootie stared at him. "Dance...with...you? Are you sure this isn't a joke? Like those water balloons you used to throw at me?"

"I'm serious!" The words came out before he could even think of saying them. "Look, I used to be a stupid ten-year-old boy, but that's all in the past! When I saw you pass by me a few minutes ago, you know that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you're around someone you love? It came, Tootie, it came! Right when YOU came along!"

She adjusted her glasses. "What? What do you...mean?"

Timmy shrugged. "I dunno, I guess it means I'm more interested in you now than Trixie! So come on, I'm already asking you to dance!"

"You don't care that people might tease you and stuff just  because you're going to dance with me?"

"No! Trust me on this!" He stretched out one hand towards her.

At first, Tootie hesitated. But instantly, she got up and held his hand. Both of them walked towards the dance floor, just when a mushy romantic kissy-kissy goo-goo song began to play. As the two of them got into position among the other couples, Timmy felt as though a savage beast within his heart had been satisfied.

He didn't regret a single moment he spent with her, not even when their lips touched and they kisssed, for the very first time. Timmy felt an even stronger sensation shoot through his brain and heard his heart beat within him.

Now, he didn't care that Trixie was with someone else.

Because he had Tootie.

It was all that mattered.

THE END. <3 Feel free to kill me.
